The 25th annual Marketfest kicks off the summer in downtown White Bear Lake with festivities, food and fun
for all. A well looked-forward part of Marketfest has been the revealing of the season's artwork. This season,
the Marketfest Board chose to have a commissioned piece done to celebrate the lake and community.
2015 Artwork by: Sara M. Jones
Sara M. Jones a native of Southwestern Wisconsin began painting & drawing the inspiring landscapes of the Mississippi River's rolling hills & valleys surrounding her as a youth. Sara graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. Upon graduating she ventured out to be the Artist in Residence at the House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin painting daily in the gardens until relocating to the Twin Cities and immersing herself into the local art scene. She since has remained creative focusing on careers that have allowed her the flexibility to pursue her passion for the arts. Sara has had a variety of creative experiences from contract painting, designing and creating large inflatables (like the ones you see in Macy Day Parades), personal exhibitions & teaching to a variety of ages. Through her years of creating & teaching she found time to get married and have three daughters which drew a few years of her enthusiasm into finger paintings. Today she has transformed again to expressing herself through combining painting, drawing accompanied with collage elements.
